Popular Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly lost ₦296 million after placing a bet on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul to beat former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in their much-talked-about clash in Miami.
Anthony Joshua Dominates the Fight
In the early hours of Saturday, December 21, Anthony Joshua delivered an impressive performance, stopping Jake Paul with a knockout in the sixth round of their heavyweight bout in Miami, United States.
Joshua’s superior experience was clear throughout the contest. He knocked Paul down twice in the fifth round and followed up in the sixth with a powerful combination that forced the referee to end the fight.
Drake’s Risky Wager on Jake Paul
Before the match, Drake revealed on his Instagram story that he had staked $200,000 (about ₦296 million) on Jake Paul to win. He shared the bet slip alongside the caption, “Jakeyyyyy boy, lock tf in.”
If Paul had pulled off the upset, Drake would have walked away with more than $1.6 million, estimated at over ₦2 billion.
Another Costly Bet
This loss adds to Drake’s history of high-profile gambling setbacks. The rapper previously lost around ₦451 million at the US Open after betting on Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner.
